We win economic equity for all women and eliminate barriers to their full participation in society. As a leading national think tank, we build evidence to shape policies that grow women’s power and influence, close inequality gaps, and improve the economic well-being of families.
Institute for Women’s Policy Research Status of Women in the States project provides timely data and analysis on the health, economic, social, and political well-being of women. The project provides state-by-state ranking on issues such as pay equity and earnings; poverty and economic security; reproductive rights and access to health care and political participation and civic engagement.

The labor movement has offered critical workplace protections and benefits that have enabled women and especially working mothers to advance professionally.
Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and the Economy
IWPR’s Program manage original research policy examination using intersectional and racial equity frameworks to better understand the experiences of women of color, their families and communities in the economy society.
Institute for Women’s Policy Research:
-manufacture the most widely-cited research on gender wage gap in the U.S.
-initiative gives evidence regularly before Congress on subjects related to women’s economic security, retirement income and employment opportunities.
-helps workers recognize and lecture employment discrimination, leading to better jobs and higher pay.
