Research Around The World…

The international website I chose to research is the European Early Childhood Education Journal (EECERJ). The European Early Childhood Education Journal is one of the most prestigious early childhood journals in the world. It is one of only four early years journals indexed by the Institute for Scientific Information. The ISI is highly selective of the journals in the citation databases and indices it maintains (EECERJ, 2021). While researching different international research topics, exploring the effectiveness of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education) education on the creativity of 5 year-old kindergarten children caught my attention. This article focuses on when creativity is meaningful to children and how it may catch a child’s attention at such a young age. Creativity is the ability to have different perspectives, to go beyond the information given and push the boundaries, to be unconventional, to be unique, to be combine things that are not related to one another and to do something new (Fox and Schirrmacher, 2014). At pre-school age, children have the brightest imagination and love to make up their own stories and create their own characters in the process. As long as the children have the proper tools and equipment to express themselves, they are being creative. STEM education is solving problems in a systematic way with the help of science, technology, engineering math and creativity (Stone-MacDonald et al, 2015). The STEM program has a positive effect on creativity for different creativity scales and different age groups. The program has also help children identify needs and find problems in their kindergarten years, along with set goals, collaborate with other children and so much more.

The European Early Childhood Education Research Journal (EECERJ) Annual Conferences is the largest and most significant early years’ research conference in Europe with more than a thousand delegates from all over the world. It is hosted in different cities within European each year by local universities, which should be extremely exciting to current and future students and staff members.
